Arch Resourcing are currently recruitng for three Senior Children's Residential Support Worker roles for a boys Theraputic home in Guildford.
Purpose of the post:
7:00am - 15:00pm
14:30pm - 23:00pm
7:00am - 23:00pm
4 days on and 3 days off
4 days would consist of early or lates and one long day

Purpose of the post:
- The key purpose of this post is to contribute to the achievement of the objectives of the service, within the organisation's policies and practices.
- These duties are to be carried out in the context of Apple orchard’s statement of purpose and value system and in compliance with the best of care practice.
- To run the shift for which they are responsible for, to manage the staff on the shift and to organize activities foe the young people.
- Work with young people Team work Liaise with parents and/or carers and other professionals Report to Deputy Manager and Home Manager Manage a team of Residential Support Workers
- To ensure that a caring and stimulating environment is provided for the young people that takes into account individual developmental needs and enables young people to reach their full potential
- To plan and prepare activities that meet the young people’s needs and stimulates their learning and integration within the home and to encourage and support residential support workers to do this.
- Keep abreast of legislation, guidelines, policies to ensure the Children’s Act, Children’s homes regulations and the national minimum standards are met at all times.
- To be aware of all Ofsted guidance and information in regards to the home.
- To observe and assess young people’s progress and keep accurate records of their achievements, behaviour and important events in their lives. To produce and keep up to date a life book for any young person for whom you have key working responsibilities
- To work with local authorities/ placing authorities to ensure the care the young people receive is outstanding
- To establish and maintain positive working relationships with parents/carers in a way that supports young people’s learning and development and values parental involvement where appropriate.
- To be flexible within working practices of the home e.g. To help, where needed, including undertaking domestic tasks within the home, which will include preparation of meals, cleaning, shopping etc.
- Work alongside the Manager and staff team to ensure that the philosophy behind the home is fulfilled.
- To keep clear and legible records regarding the young people. To ensure that entries in records are legible, clearly expressed, non-stigmatising and distinguished as far as possible between fact, opinion and third party information
- To organise each shift to meet the needs of the young people while keeping staff and young people safe and free from harm
- To maintain consistent boundaries and to ensure the safe practice of the Residential Support Workers
- To be responsible for the professional supervision of residential support workers, as guided by the manager
- To work as directed by the Home Manager and principal manager in accordance with the guidelines and procedures of Apple Orchard Ensure all home procedures are followed correctly, e.g. safeguarding, recording of accidents and the care plans of the young people. Respect the confidentiality of information received at all times.
- The preparation and completion of activities to suit the young person’s stage of development.
- To ensure that mealtimes are a valuable social occasion
- To ensure the provision of a high quality environment to meet the needs of all children and to abide by the Equal Opportunities Policy.
- To make contact and liaise with external agencies, when appropriate
- To act as an ambassador for the Home and maintain a positive image of its aims and objectives.
- To attend and participate in staff meetings and planning and development days.
- To update training and continued professional development
- To carry out any other duties required.
- To cover in any of the other homes, when required
- To be aged 25 or over
- Full and relevant Level 3 or above childcare qualification
- MUST be a manual car driver
- Current First Aid Certificate
- Basic Food Hygiene Certificate
- Knowledge of safe practice and training in physical intervention
- Up to date Safeguarding training
- Knowledge of national minimum Standards
- Knowledge of Key worker systems and record keeping
- Knowledge of child development
- To be able to demonstrate the ability to work as part of a team as well as ability to work independently using own initiative
- Knowledge of safeguarding children procedures
- Knowledge of health and safety issues in a residential home setting
- Knowledge, understanding and commitment to equal opportunities
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Understanding of the specific needs of the client group within the home
- Understanding of appropriate management ideals and to be able to communicate effectively with the team regardless of the circumstances
