Senior Support Worker - Children's Residential 
Location: Stevenage, Hertfordshire
Salary: £13.50-£14.50
Shifts: 2 days on, 4 days off 
(2 long day shifts with a sleep in)

Are you an experienced Senior Support Worker looking to make a real difference in the lives of young people?

We are currently recruiting for a Senior Support Worker to join a nurturing Children’s Residential Home supporting young people with Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD). This is a fantastic opportunity for a dedicated Senior Support Worker who is passionate about supporting vulnerable young people and helping to create a safe, structured, and supportive home environment.

As a Senior Support Worker, you will play a key role in supporting the day-to-day running of the home while delivering high-quality care to young people. The Senior Support Worker will lead by example, guiding and supporting the team while ensuring the home operates to the highest standards of care.

The Senior Support Worker will work closely with the management team to promote a stable, nurturing environment where young people can build confidence, develop life skills, and achieve positive outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality care and support as a Senior Support Worker to children and young people with EBD.
  • Act as a positive role model and leader within the team as a Senior Support Worker.
  • Support the daily operation of the home and take responsibility for leading shifts as a Senior Support Worker.
  • Assist in implementing and reviewing care plans, behaviour management strategies, and risk assessments.
  • Mentor and support junior staff members in your role as a Senior Support Worker.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports in line with Ofsted and safeguarding requirements.
  • Encourage young people to develop independence, social skills, and confidence.
  • Ensure the safety, wellbeing, and safeguarding of young people at all times.
Requirements
  • Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare 
  • Previous experience working in a Children’s Residential Home, ideally supporting young people with EBD.
  • Experience working as a Senior Support Worker or in a similar senior residential childcare role.
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding and Ofsted regulations.
  • Ability to lead shifts, support colleagues, and manage challenging behaviours.
  • Full UK driving licence
